Ever dreamed of taking the helm?

 

This is a two day (14 hours) sailing course that is a hands-on beginner course.

It is designed for those with zero experience who want to learn the ropes—literally.

Whether you want to charter a boat someday or just enjoy a new hobby, this is your starting point.

 

2026 Course Dates

Choose one of four options of these two-day linked sessions for 14 hours total:

(All times: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm):

 

Option 1:

Sundays, August 9 & 16

 

Option 2:

Thursdays, August 20 & 27

 

Option 3:

Sundays, August 23 & 30

 

Option 4:

Sundays, September 6 & 13

 

Location: Naramata Marina, Naramata, BC.

 

What Will I Learn?

Over two days, you’ll move from a beginner to a confident crew member:

 

Day 1: The Foundations. Safety protocols, rigging the boat, knots, and understanding how to use the wind (points of sail).

 

Day 2: Refining Skills. Advanced boat handling, man-overboard drills, and reading weather conditions.

 

Certifications Earned:

Upon completion, you’ll receive both the Sail Canada ‘Start Keelboat Sailing’ Certificate/Log Book and the Sailing Okanagan 'Sailing Essentials' Certificate.

 

The Details:

​

Experience: None required! This is an entry-level course. Participants must be at least 16 years old.

 

Physicality: You should be comfortable boarding a boat from a small tender and have the balance/strength for moderate physical activity.

Cost is $495 + GST and includes all lessons, handouts, and Sail Canada Log Book and Certification. Please bring your own lunch and drinks.
